WE DON’T NEED YOUR LIFE STORY.
And we have no interest in quietly turning your visit into a side business.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to DomainSquattersSuck.com, its public pages, Graveyard database, research tools, submission features, correction processes, and other services that expressly link to this Policy (collectively, the “Site”). The Site is operated under the DomainSquattersSuck.com project name (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
2. Information We May Receive Automatically
Like nearly every functioning website, our hosting, content-delivery, security, analytics, or infrastructure providers may automatically process technical information when you access the Site. Depending on the systems in use, that may include:
- IP address and approximate network location;
- browser type, device type, operating system, and user-agent information;
- date and time of requests;
- pages, files, and API endpoints requested;
- referring URLs and basic navigation data;
- security events, rate-limit events, error logs, and abuse indicators; and
- cookie or local-storage identifiers where a feature actually uses them.
We use this information to deliver the Site, troubleshoot it, understand aggregate usage, prevent abuse, investigate security incidents, and keep the digital raccoons out of the server room.
3. Information You Choose to Give Us
If you contact us, submit a correction, provide a domain lead, send evidence, request removal or clarification, or otherwise communicate with the project, we may receive information such as your name, email address, message, domain names, URLs, screenshots, documents, correspondence, or other materials you voluntarily provide.
Please do not send passwords, payment-card numbers, government identification numbers, medical records, or other sensitive information that has no legitimate reason to be part of a domain-market research project. We are investigating domain pricing, not auditioning for a data breach.
4. Research Submissions, Evidence, and Corrections
Materials submitted for research, verification, correction, dispute resolution, or publication may be retained with the related research record. We may preserve source material, timestamps, screenshots, correspondence, technical metadata, and prior versions when reasonably necessary to document what was observed and when.
The public research desk requires a working email address so the submitter can verify control of that inbox before research begins. We do not require a public name. The raw email address is used to send the verification message and is not displayed in the public case record. The research database stores a keyed one-way HMAC of the email for duplicate controls and rate limiting rather than storing the address as a public-case field.
A submission may include a domain name, industry, city or region, acronym, word or phrase, intended use, claimed marketplace or asking price, narrative, and public source URLs. We send the research brief to OpenAI for AI-assisted web research and may store the resulting report, source inventory, evidence-strength metrics, and relevant domain candidates with the research record.
The research workflow does not use an IP-address fingerprint to decide whether the same domain may be submitted again. Instead, to protect the integrity of the public record, only one verified new case for the same domain is accepted within any seven-day period, regardless of the email address used. Hosting, CDN, security, and infrastructure providers may still process ordinary request logs as described above. The browser may also store the random research-result token in local storage so you can reopen your result without an account.
Before submission, the submitter must agree to the Terms of Service, acknowledge this case-submission privacy notice, and acknowledge that researched case facts may be automatically published after email verification and successful evidence research. Personal contact details are not published merely because a case is submitted. Publicly available business information, marketplace listings, public-facing contact information, and information necessary to explain or verify a published record may be treated differently.
5. Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies
The Site may use essential cookies, local storage, analytics, security tools, or similar technologies when those technologies are needed for functionality, fraud prevention, aggregate traffic measurement, preferences, or administration. If we later introduce materially different tracking, advertising, or profiling practices, this Policy will be updated accordingly.
At present, the Site is not designed around behavioral advertising, cross-site ad targeting, or selling browsing profiles to strangers in conference rooms.
6. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
- populate, verify, update, and audit research records;
- respond to questions, complaints, correction requests, or legal notices;
- detect scraping abuse, denial-of-service activity, fraud, or attempts to circumvent technical controls;
- generate aggregate or de-identified statistics;
- document the provenance of evidence and historical observations;
- comply with applicable law, court orders, or lawful process; and
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
7. We Do Not Sell Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not operate a data-broker business. We do not rent personal information to marketers. If our practices ever materially change, we will update this Policy before pretending the English language suddenly means something else.
8. When Information May Be Shared
We may disclose information to service providers and vendors that help us host, secure, maintain, analyze, back up, or operate the Site, subject to appropriate contractual or technical safeguards where applicable. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- comply with applicable law or valid legal process;
- investigate fraud, security incidents, or abuse;
- protect the rights, safety, property, or systems of the Site, its operator, our users, or others;
- respond to a dispute concerning a published record; or
- complete a legitimate business reorganization involving the project, subject to applicable law.
9. Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, operational or security needs, research integrity, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims. Research evidence may be retained longer than ordinary web logs when preserving the historical record is itself part of the project.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the Site and the information we process. No website, database, network, cloud service, encrypted tunnel, locked cabinet, moat, drawbridge, or strongly worded sign can guarantee perfect security. We therefore limit collection where practical and design the Site so that compromising one thing does not require compromising everything.
11. Your Privacy Requests
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or appeal. Some rights do not apply to every organization, every type of information, or every circumstance. Research, journalism, legal claims, security, public records, and other legally recognized exceptions may also apply.
We will not tell you that a contractual sentence magically erases a right that applicable law says cannot be waived. If the law gives you a non-waivable right, the law wins. Annoying for anyone hoping to become emperor through footer text, but useful for civilization.
12. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Because we do not currently sell personal information or use the Site as a behavioral-advertising marketplace, Global Privacy Control and browser “Do Not Track” signals generally do not trigger a sale or sharing opt-out here. Where applicable law requires us to recognize a browser-based preference signal for a covered practice, we will do so as required.
13. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to the Site, contact us so we can evaluate and address it.
14. Third-Party Sites
The Site links to registrars, marketplaces, government agencies, courts, consumer-protection offices, archives, news sources, and other third parties. Their privacy practices are theirs. A link is not a merger, endorsement, mind meld, or adoption of another site’s policies.
15. International Visitors
The Site is operated from the United States. If you access it from another country, information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable legal requirements.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Policy when the Site, our practices, or applicable law changes. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Material changes may also be highlighted on the Site when appropriate.
17. Contact
Privacy, correction, and legal requests may be submitted through the contact channels published by DomainSquattersSuck.com.
